The magic of Leh will beckon you year after year and leave you still wanting more. The moon-like landscapes, desert mountains with splashes of green and snow peaks, monasteries and stupas make you feel far removed from this world. The drive on the mountain roads, along the mighty Indus and the Zanskar, with grazing Yaks, Martens, wild horses, and sheep, and apple and apricot trees.
Leh is in the heart of the rocky paradise of Ladakh, a land adorned by mighty Himalayan peaks and reflecting everlasting beauty. The rest of the day is at leisure for acclimatizing to the climate of Ladakh. Overnight in Leh. (L & D).
Post breakfast we drive towards Kargil road and start our sightseeing with the Hall of Fame near Leh. It is worth a visit for every citizen. It is a glorious museum constructed by the Indian army. Afterward, we proceed to the Kali Mata Temple, Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, nestled deep in the Himalayas. This temple was built by the Lamas of Leh in 1517 to honor Guru Nanak Dev’s visit. A drive of another 4 km takes us to Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity. It has been noticed that when a vehicle is parked in neutral gear on this metallic road the vehicle slides up & further. As we drive through a picturesque landscape we reach the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers 4 km before Nimmu village. Once we have visited the above places, we will drive back to the hotel for an overnight stay. The rest of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Leh. (B, L, D).
This morning, drive to Nubra Valley, popularly known as Dorma or āthe valley of flowersā via Khardungla Pass – the world’s highest motorable road (5602 mts). On arrival, check in at the camp. Later in the afternoon, visit the Diskit Monastery and the giant statue of Maitreya Buddha which is the tallest Buddha statue in Ladakh. Thereafter, visit the white sand dunes at Hunder, where you can enjoy the double-humped Bactrian camel ride (ride on a direct payment basis)The rest of the evening is free for independent activities. Overnight in Nubra Valley. (B, L & D).
This morning after breakfast, proceed to Pangong Tso – a lake that is 134 km long and extends from India to Tibet. 60% of the length of the lake lies in China. During winter, the lake freezes completely, despite being saline. En route, visit Shyok River & Durbuk. Before reaching Pangong Lake, you will pass through Changla, a high mountain pass and the worldās 3rd highest motorable road. It is on the route to Pangong Lake from Leh. The name literally means “Pass towards the South” or “Pass in the South” (Chang = south, La = Pass). On arrival, check-in at the camp. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Pangong.
This morning after breakfast, drive around Pangong Lake and donāt forget to click photos!! Continue your drive to Leh. En-route visit Hemis Monastery hidden in a gorge, the largest and wealthiest Gompa in Ladakh. Visit Stok Palace, famous for its beautiful gardens and the view of the sunrise as well as sunset is amazing from the palace. At present, the palace is open to visits and presents a collection of royal attires, crowns and other royal materials. The rest of the evening is at leisure for various independent activities Overnight in Leh.
After breakfast we proceed to Indus Valley Monastery Starting with Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism, Thiksey Monastery an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village, Shey Palace, the ancient capital of Ladakh, 3 Idiots Rancho School & Sindhu Ghat. After visiting the above places we drive back to Leh. Evening at leisure to explore the city on your own. Dinner & Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
