Amritsar is a major tourist destination in the state of Punjab, and the cultural and commercial hub of northern India. Amritsar is popularly known as the ‘Golden City’. This historic city is not only famous for its rich and diverse Sikh culture but also home to India’s most revered monument, the Golden Temple.
Amritsar is well known for its chaat, kulfi, and langar. The food of Amritsar is representative of Punjabi cuisine.
Transfer from the airport/train station to your hotel in Amritsar. In the afternoon, proceed to the Wagha border (try to arrive by 1500Hrs). In both countries, news about Wagha is always in the headlines. Pageantry, pomp, and a change of guard within a short span create an impressive spectacle that attracts thousands of spectators. The most significant part of the parade is the lowering of the respective flags. The entire ceremony takes about thirty minutes. Overnight at the hotel.
Afterwards, proceed to Amritsar for sightseeing including the Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple, Jalianwala Bagh, Partition Museum, Ranjit Singh Museum, and Gobindgarh Fort. Overnight stay at the hotel.
