Nestled in the hills of Meghalaya, Shillong is a scenic city surrounded by old pine trees. It was known as Lei Shillong before it got its current name after an idol worshipped at the peak of Shillong Mountain. This hill station, situated at 1496 metres above sea level, is famous for its weather, picturesque views, and various traditions. Known as the “Scotland of the East,” this place also houses many descendants of the Kyrim, Mylliem, Maharam, Mallaisohmat and Bhowal clans.
