The city of Varanasi, with a population of 1.2 million, is situated on the right bank of the Ganges in Uttar Pradesh state. It has three universities, including the well-known Banaras Hindu University, and more than a dozen colleges and high schools. It is also a centre for art, crafts and music. Varanasi is famous for its production of ivory articles – combs, brushes, ivory boxes.
The spiritual capital of India, Varanasi is where Hindus believe one can wash away all sins. The Ghats are the most famous ritual bathing area. Pilgrims come from all over the world to bathe in these holy waters and pray. There are gold and silver centres and workshops, as well as a silk industry that thrives on embroidery and weaving.
Afternoon arrival at Varanasi airport, transfer to Hotel check later in the evening transfer to the Ganges for Boating and Evening Ganga Aarti on famous Dashashwamedh Ghat (Dashashwamedh Ghat is the main ghat in Varanasi on the Ganga River. It is located close to Vishwanath Temple and is probably the most spectacular ghat. Two Hindu legends are associated with it: According to one, Lord Brahma created it to welcome Lord Shiva. According to another legend, Lord Brahma sacrificed ten horses during Dasa-Ashwamedha yajna performed here.) Overnight in Varanasi.
